This Privacy Policy, Online Safety & Parental Consent document explains how Gold Standard Tutors collects, uses, and protects information, particularly with respect to minor students, and sets forth required parental acknowledgments. This Policy is incorporated into and governed by the Terms and Conditions.
1. No University Affiliation
Gold Standard Tutors is a private, independent tutoring service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or acting on behalf of the University of Notre Dame.
Tutors may attend the University of Notre Dame but act solely in their individual capacities. The University bears no responsibility or liability for tutoring services.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to parents or legal guardians, minor students (elementary through high school), and all online tutoring sessions conducted through third-party online meeting platforms, including but not limited to Zoom and Google Meet.
3. Information We Collect
We may collect limited personal information, including student first name and last initial, grade level, subject needs, parent or guardian contact information, and scheduling or payment details. We do not collect Social Security numbers, government-issued identification, or unnecessary sensitive data.
Limited technical data may be collected for security and functionality purposes.
4. Use of Information
Information is used solely to provide tutoring services, communicate with parents and students, schedule and conduct sessions, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell or monetize personal information.
5. Online Safety
Tutoring sessions are conducted only through Gold Standard Tutors–approved online meeting links. Gold Standard Tutors does not provide supervision beyond academic instruction. Parents are solely responsible for the student’s physical environment, conduct, and technology use.
6. Recording Policy
For safety, quality assurance, and liability protection, all tutoring sessions are intended to be recorded, provided that informed consent is obtained from the parent or legal guardian, the tutor, and where appropriate, the student.
Recordings may be used solely for safety monitoring, quality assurance, dispute resolution, training, and legal compliance.
If consent to recording is not provided, Gold Standard Tutors reserves the right to decline services or to provide services without recording at its sole discretion.
Parents and students are strictly prohibited from independently recording, photographing, or screenshotting any tutoring session without prior written consent. Unauthorized recording may result in immediate termination of services and legal action.
7. Data Security and Retention
We take reasonable measures to protect personal information. However, no online system can be guaranteed to be fully secure, and Gold Standard Tutors disclaims liability for breaches beyond its reasonable control. Information and recordings are retained only as long as necessary for legitimate business or legal purposes.
8. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
Gold Standard Tutors collects information from children under 13 only with verifiable parental consent. Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child’s information at any time.
9. Parental Acknowledgment and Consent (Required)
By enrolling a minor student, the parent or legal guardian acknowledges and agrees that:

They have legal authority to consent on behalf of the minor;

Gold Standard Tutors is not affiliated with the University of Notre Dame, which bears no liability;

Tutoring services are conducted exclusively online;

Tutoring sessions are intended to be recorded, subject to consent;

Gold Standard Tutors does not provide supervision or childcare;

The parent is responsible for the student’s environment and conduct;

Unauthorized recording is prohibited;

The parent consents to data collection and recording as described in this Policy.
This consent is a material condition of service.
10. Limitation of Liability
Gold Standard Tutors disclaims liability for actions of students or parents, third-party platform failures, and indirect or consequential damages.
11. Changes to This Policy
Continued use of services constitutes acceptance of any revisions.
